Cynthia R. Garza is campaigning for the 363rd District Court, a State of Texas criminal court with jurisdiction in Dallas County. She has more than 20 years of legal experience, and has worked as both a defense attorney and a prosecutor, giving her a 360-degree understanding of the criminal justice system and our courts.
Cynthia R. Garza joined the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office in 2008 in the Appellate Division. She later became the Chief Prosecutor of the Conviction Integrity Unit (CIU). In her role with the CIU, Garza has been directly involved in evaluation of cases that ultimately led to the exoneration of innocent persons.
In 2024, Cynthia R. Garza received the DFW Black Prosecutor Association Appreciation Award for Pursuing Justice for All. In 2023, she was presented with the Distinguished Alumna Award from SMU Dedman School of Law. Garza also received Law & Crime Network’s America’s Greatest Detective Award for her work at the Conviction Integrity Unit.
